The Fiat 500X will be officially presented to the public this autumn, during the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September.
After it was unveiled last month taking everyone by surprise, the Fiat 500X, the direct rival of the MINI Countryman, will make its official debut this September, during the 2012 Paris Motor Show, and it’s expected to hit the market sometimes next year. The Fiat 500X will look more masculine when compared to other models in the 500 lineup but it will still borrow some familiar styling cues like the chrome badge, the headlights and taillights.
The Fiat 500X will be offered with a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and it will be based on a widened version of the Punto hatchback platform. The new model in the Italian based automaker’s lineup will have the same size as the MPV model, which means that it will be over 4m long and it will be able to host five adults in the cabin, with a cargo space of 400 liters.
The Fiat 500X is expected to be powered by a 1.4 liter TwinAir gasoline engine which will generate a total output of 93 horsepower. This unit will be offered with front-wheel drive as an entry-level and another engine, which will most likely be a two-cylinder 1.0 liter with 104 HP will also make its way into the lineup, along with several Multijet diesels. More details on the Fiat 500X will be announced at the Paris Motor Show next month.
