The Japanese based automaker Subaru has recently released the first teaser images with the high performance STI version of the BRZ, which is expected to be unveiled later on this year.
Two years after the regular version of the Subaru BRZ has seen daylight, along with its Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S brothers, the carmaker is getting ready to pull the wraps off the high performance version of the model, despite Toyota’s announcement on the GT86 Convertible and turbocharged version. The brand new Subaru BRZ STI, in its final production version, will probably be based on the concept wearing the same name and rumors are saying that the model will be unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
The Subaru BRZ STI is said to get a more aggressive body kit, with a larger rear wing, modified side skirts, new front grille, front lip spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels. These changes should help it stand out from a crowd. The most important changes will be found under its hood where the model will apparently produce 32 HP (23 kW) more than the standard model, to a total of 232 HP (171 kW). This will be achieved thanks to a bump in rev beyond 7,500 rpm and variable control system tweaks, as the sports car will not be turbocharged because the lack of space for the intercooler. More details on the BRZ STI will be announced probably over the following months.
