Are you into the Tesla Model S but you can’t afford it? Don’t worry, because a Chinese carmaker has gotten you covered.
We all know that the Chinese are famous for copying the design of popular vehicles and making their own versions and after the recent scandal with the Landwind X7, the Range Rover Evoque copy, time has come to talk about another model, the Tesla Model S. The local Chinese version of this model is called the Youxia X and it has a similar design to the one of the extremely popular high-performance electric sedan. The same front grille can be seen as the one of the Tesla Model S, but the lighting units are now sharper.
In the rear end, we can find similarities to the Lexus NX crossover. Its interior design has received a large 17-inch screen, fitted to the middle of the dashboard, along with a digital instrument cluster. The Chinese are saying that their very own rival for the Tesla Model S will have a choice of three battery packs, 40 kWh, 60 kWh and 85 kWh, and it will have a total range of up to 460 km. In the range-topping version, the vehicle will get 348 HP and it will needs 5.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph). Different virtual exhaust sounds will be added and the option list could include the Jaguar XJ and the Ferrari 488 GTB. The Youxia X is expected to hit the local market next year and to be priced between 32,000 and 48,000 USD.
