Brabus has released its tuning programme for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK, adding performance upgrades and a suite of aerodynamic changes to the compact roadster. The German specialist’s package covers both the SLK 200 BlueEfficiency and the SLK 250, with engine modifications and bespoke bodywork.

Power upgrades and engine options

The Brabus SLK 200 BlueEfficiency gains a 26 hp boost over the standard car. For the SLK 250, Brabus offers two stages of tune, raising output to either 230 or 240 hp compared with the factory 204 hp. Details for the SLK 350 were not announced at the time of the programme’s launch.

Aerodynamic and visual changes

The exterior modifications include a pair of front spoiler lips fitted to either side of the production apron, new side sills, a boot spoiler, and a redesigned rear diffuser. Brabus has also introduced a new LED bar configuration to update the lighting signature. These parts are intended to improve both the car’s appearance and its aerodynamic performance.

Customers can select wheels from 17 to 20 inches, with Brabus recommending high-performance tyres from Pirelli, Continental or Yokohama. The largest setup features 235/30 R20 tyres at the front and 275/25 R20 at the rear, which Brabus claims optimises grip and stance.

Market position

This Brabus programme gives the third-generation SLK a more aggressive look and extra performance, targeting buyers seeking more than the standard Mercedes-Benz specification. The visual updates, including a wider grille and revised lighting, distinguish the car from both its predecessor and other SLK models. At launch, details for the SLK 350 remained undisclosed.
