BMW has introduced a comprehensive range of M Performance parts for the 2014 2 Series Coupe, aiming to provide customers with a selection of factory-developed upgrades that enhance both the look and the driving dynamics of the car. These upgrades are targeted at buyers who want a sportier aesthetic and feel, but may not wish to move up to a full M model. The M Performance range covers key areas including braking, suspension, wheels, aerodynamics, and interior personalisation, giving owners the opportunity to tailor their car to their preferences from the outset.

Overview of M Performance Parts for the 2014 BMW 2 Series Coupe

Chassis and Brake Upgrades

The M Performance package for the 2 Series Coupe starts with a significant upgrade to the braking system. Buyers can select calipers finished in red, yellow or orange, providing not only enhanced stopping power but also a visual statement. The addition of a sports suspension kit lowers the car by 20 mm compared to the standard setup, which is intended to deliver a firmer ride and sharper handling characteristics. These upgrades are designed to work alongside the existing chassis options offered by BMW, and are available from the model’s launch.

Complementing the suspension and brake enhancements, BMW offers two unique 19-inch alloy wheel designs exclusive to the M Performance range. These wheels are intended to further distinguish the upgraded model from standard 2 Series Coupes, and contribute to the car’s more aggressive stance and improved road presence.

Aerodynamic and Visual Enhancements

The exterior of the 2 Series Coupe can be further enhanced with an aerodynamic kit that includes new front and rear air ducting elements, a revised front apron, a rear diffuser, and side sill attachments. These additions are designed to improve airflow around the car and provide a sportier appearance in line with BMW’s M division styling.

Personalisation options extend to accent stripes, which are available in two colours, and black surrounds for the signature kidney grille. Carbon fibre mirror caps and the M Performance logo on the side sills are also available, allowing owners to further differentiate their car from the standard models. These visual upgrades echo cues seen on full M models and help to reinforce the car’s sporting credentials.

Interior Options and Customisation

Inside, the M Performance catalogue offers a selection of upgrades aimed at creating a more focused and premium environment. Stainless steel pedals add a motorsport-inspired touch, while carbon fibre trim and Alcantara inserts for the dashboard and door panels contribute to a more dynamic feel. These interior enhancements are designed to complement the exterior modifications, allowing buyers to create a cohesive sporting theme throughout the car.

The availability of these interior and exterior options means that buyers can personalise their 2 Series Coupe to a considerable degree, choosing the elements that best match their own tastes and driving style.

Performance Upgrades: 220d and M235i

For those seeking more than just visual and handling improvements, BMW offers specific performance upgrades for certain models within the 2 Series Coupe range. The 220d Coupe benefits from a power increase of 16 hp and an additional 40 Nm of torque when equipped with the M Performance kit, resulting in a more responsive and dynamic driving experience. This enhancement is designed to give the diesel variant a sportier edge without compromising everyday usability.

The M235i, which is already positioned as the range-topping petrol model, is offered with a sports silencer and a limited-slip differential as part of the M Performance options. While no further power increase was specified for the M235i at launch, these mechanical upgrades are intended to enhance the car’s driving dynamics and provide a more engaging experience for enthusiasts. The limited-slip differential, in particular, is likely to benefit those who plan to use the car in more spirited driving conditions or on track days.

Availability and Ordering

All M Performance parts for the 2014 2 Series Coupe are available to order from launch. This allows buyers to specify their preferred upgrades directly from the factory, ensuring that the car is delivered with all chosen enhancements fitted and covered by BMW’s warranty. The factory-fit approach also guarantees that the parts are fully compatible with the car’s systems and have been developed to BMW’s engineering standards.
