Cadillac introduced its new ATS Coupe to European audiences at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, marking the model’s first appearance on the continent after its initial unveiling in Detroit earlier that year. The ATS Coupe leads Cadillac’s renewed push into Europe, arriving alongside the large Escalade SUV as the brand attempts to build a foothold in a market dominated by German premium rivals.
The ATS Coupe enters a segment crowded with established names, most notably the Audi A5 and BMW’s new 4 Series Coupe. Cadillac’s offering is built on the same platform as the ATS saloon, but features a sleeker, two-door body aimed at buyers seeking a more distinctive alternative to the European staples.
Engine and drivetrain options
Under the bonnet, the ATS Coupe is fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 276hp (203kW) and 400Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Cadillac is offering the coupe with rear-wheel drive as standard, while all-wheel drive is available as an option. This configuration brings the ATS Coupe in line with the drivetrain flexibility offered by its German competitors.
The lack of a diesel variant could limit the ATS Coupe’s appeal in Europe, where diesel engines are common in premium coupes.
