Ford Focus ST 2015 launches in Australia from $38,990
Ford brings its updated Focus ST hot hatch to Australian showrooms, with revised suspension, new driver aids and a 2.0-litre turbo engine from May 2015.
Ford has introduced the 2015 Focus ST to the Australian market, with sales beginning from 1 May 2015. The updated hot hatch is priced at $38,990 before on-road costs, positioning it as a direct rival to the Volkswagen Golf GTI and other performance hatchbacks.
Technical and chassis changes for Australia
Australian buyers receive the same mechanical updates as other global markets. The 2015 Focus ST features new front springs and revised dampers at both ends, with stiffer anti-roll bars and reworked rear spring links. Ford has also recalibrated the electronic power-assisted steering and vehicle control systems, aiming to sharpen handling and improve driver feedback. These changes are intended to make the Focus ST more competitive against established rivals in the hot hatch segment.
The engine remains Ford’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, producing 184kW and 340Nm of torque (360Nm on overboost), delivered to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Ford claims average fuel consumption of 7.3L/100km. There is no automatic transmission option for this generation of ST.
Equipment and options
Standard equipment includes sports seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and Ford’s SYNC infotainment system. Buyers can opt for the $2,000 Technology Pack, which adds features such as auto high-beam, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring and low-speed autonomous braking. Paint choices now include Tangerine Scream gold, Deep Impact Blue and Stealth Grey, each carrying a $450 premium.
