Ford Launches Online Configurator for 2015 Mustang
Buyers can now tailor the new Mustang with a choice of engines, colours and wheels using Ford’s official online tool, following the model’s global unveiling.
Ford has brought the 2015 Mustang into the digital showroom, launching an online configurator that allows prospective buyers to customise the new model’s specification before placing an order. The tool went live days after the official unveiling of the sixth-generation Mustang, marking the first time the iconic muscle car is available to configure online in this way.
The configurator covers the new Mustang’s full range of powertrains. Buyers can select the entry-level 3.7-litre V6 with 300hp and 365Nm, the mid-range 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder producing 305hp and 406Nm, or the flagship 5.0-litre V8 with 420hp and 528Nm. Each engine option can be paired with a choice of transmissions and trim levels, reflecting Ford’s push to broaden the Mustang’s appeal beyond its traditional V8 customer base.
Paint options span classic shades such as Oxford White and Black, alongside brighter colours like Competition Orange, Triple Yellow and Race Red. Metallics including Guard, Ingot Silver, Magnetic and Ruby Red also feature. Wheel choices range from standard 18-inch alloys to 19-inch designs with glossy black finishes or premium detailing, allowing buyers to tailor the car’s appearance to their tastes.
Personalisation and market context
The new configurator is part of Ford’s effort to modernise the Mustang’s image and reach a wider customer base, especially as the model is prepared for global sales. By letting buyers mix and match colours, wheels and engines online, Ford aims to generate early interest and pre-orders ahead of the car’s arrival in showrooms.
The sixth-generation Mustang represents a major update, with independent rear suspension and the introduction of the turbocharged EcoBoost engine. The online configurator gives buyers an early look at the options available, and positions the Mustang alongside rivals that already offer digital customisation tools. Hyundai, for example, recently launched a similar configurator for the 2015 Sonata.
What buyers can expect
- Choice of three engines: V6, EcoBoost four-cylinder, or V8
- Ten exterior paint colours, including classic and metallic options
- Multiple 18- and 19-inch wheel designs
- Ability to preview combinations before ordering
The configurator is available now via Ford’s official website, giving buyers in North America and other launch markets a way to explore the new Mustang’s options ahead of its showroom debut. As the car’s production ramps up, Ford expects the tool to drive early engagement and help dealers manage customer preferences more effectively.
