Lexus launches NX200t in Australia from $52,500
The 2015 Lexus NX200t arrives in Australian showrooms, introducing a turbocharged petrol option to the NX line-up with three trim levels and a starting price of $52,500 before on-road costs.
Lexus has introduced the NX200t to the Australian market, marking the first turbocharged petrol model in the NX range. The 2015 NX200t starts at $52,500 before on-road costs, with the first vehicles reaching showrooms in early 2015.
The NX200t introduces a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine to the Lexus line-up, producing 175kW and paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine option gives Lexus a direct competitor to other premium compact SUVs powered by turbo petrol units, such as the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
Trim levels and features
Australian buyers can choose from three NX200t grades: Luxury, F Sport and Sports Luxury. The entry-level Luxury includes features such as a redesigned touch-sensitive Remote Touch controller, drive mode select (Eco, Normal, Sport), powered tailgate, rearview camera, parking sensors, satellite navigation, heated front seats with eight-way power adjustment, rain-sensing wipers, LED low beam headlights and fog lights, a 10-speaker audio system, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, electric steering column adjustment, electric parking brake and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The F Sport trim adds adaptive variable suspension, a four-mode drive select system (Eco, Normal, Sport, Sport Plus), blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, standard all-wheel drive, performance dampers, paddle shifters, unique F Sport styling elements, active sound control, a 360-degree panoramic view monitor and 10-way power adjustable heated and cooled front seats.
At the top of the range, the Sports Luxury model features woodgrain trim, a moon roof, power folding rear seats, LED headlights with automatic high beam, a full-colour head-up display, lane departure warning, all-speed active radar cruise control, a leather interior, pre-collision safety system, Mark Levinson 14-speaker audio and a smart key card. The flagship NX300h AWD Sports Luxury hybrid is priced at $75,000, but the NX200t Sports Luxury remains the most premium petrol option in the NX line-up.
Positioning in the premium SUV market
The NX200t enters a competitive segment, targeting buyers looking for a compact luxury SUV with a petrol turbo engine. Its arrival follows the launch of other premium SUVs in Australia, including the 2015 Hyundai Sonata,Mazda CX-5and Skoda Yeti.
