GMC Canyon Nightfall Edition debuts at 2015 Detroit show
GMC unveiled the Canyon Nightfall Edition at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, adding a distinctive new look and extra kit to its mid-size pickup.
GMC presented the Canyon Nightfall Edition at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, introducing a factory-customised version of its mid-size pickup aimed at buyers seeking a more distinctive look and higher equipment levels.
The Nightfall Edition is built on the SLE crew cab trim, and comes exclusively in Onyx Black paint. GMC fitted the edition with a blacked-out front grille, Dark Argent inserts, polished exhaust tip and 18-inch aluminium wheels, all intended to set it apart visually from the regular Canyon. A spray-in bedliner is also standard, catering for buyers looking to use the pickup for work as well as style.
Equipment and features
The Canyon Nightfall Edition brings a range of comfort and convenience features as standard. These include keyless entry, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a soft-touch instrument panel with aluminium trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The eight-inch Colour Touch Radio with GMC IntelliLink provides infotainment, while two USB ports add connectivity. For four-wheel drive models, an automatic locking rear differential is included.

Powertrain and pricing
Buyers could specify the Nightfall Edition with GMC’s 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine, producing 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The package was offered with both rear- and four-wheel drive layouts. At launch, GMC had not released official pricing, but positioned the Nightfall Edition above the standard SLE, with US media expecting a starting price in the low $30,000s.
The Canyon Nightfall Edition joined a growing trend for factory special editions in the US pickup segment, offering buyers a way to stand out without turning to the aftermarket. GMC continued to expand its premium offerings in the years that followed, later introducing the Canyon Denali as its range-topping model.
