2015 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo visualised in new renderings
Independent renderings preview the Monte Carlo edition of the new-generation Skoda Fabia, hinting at a sportier look for the supermini as the RS variant is dropped.
Fresh renderings have surfaced showing the 2015 Skoda Fabia in its anticipated Monte Carlo trim, giving the first glimpse of a sportier version of Skoda’s new-generation supermini. The images, produced by independent designer Theophilus Chin, appear just after the official unveiling of the standard third-generation Fabia.
The Monte Carlo edition, known for its blacked-out styling cues and racier stance, is expected to sit at the top of the Fabia range following Skoda’s decision not to develop a new RS hot hatch. The renderings show a contrasting black roof, black mirror caps, dark alloy wheels and subtle body enhancements, all of which have characterised previous Monte Carlo editions from Skoda.
What the Monte Carlo edition could offer
While Skoda has not officially confirmed the Monte Carlo variant, the brand’s previous pattern with the outgoing Fabia suggests a similar package: unique exterior detailing, bespoke interior trim and a focus on visual sportiness rather than outright performance. The new Fabia is built on Volkswagen’s PQ26 platform, making it lighter than its predecessor by up to 65 kg. Entry-level models weigh just 980 kg, promising improved efficiency and handling.
Engine options for the standard 2015 Fabia include a 1.0-litre MPI petrol with 60 hp, a 1.2-litre TSI petrol with up to 110 hp, and a 1.4-litre diesel available in 75 hp and 105 hp outputs. The Monte Carlo edition is likely to use the more powerful versions of these engines, as with previous generations, but will not receive a dedicated performance powertrain after the RS was discontinued.
