2016 GMC Terrain facelift revealed ahead of New York debut
GMC has unveiled the refreshed 2016 Terrain and Terrain Denali, featuring updated styling, new safety technology and revised interior options, ahead of its public debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
GMC has officially revealed the 2016 Terrain and Terrain Denali, showcasing a series of design and equipment updates before the models make their public debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show. The mid-size SUV receives revised front and rear fascias, a new chrome-accented grille, and C-shaped lower chrome trim, bringing its appearance in line with GMC’s latest design language.
LED daytime running lights are now standard on most trims, while the Terrain Denali stands out with 19-inch wheels and additional chrome detailing. The standard Terrain receives 18-inch alloys. Both models feature a reprofiled power dome bonnet and updated rear styling, aiming to keep the Terrain competitive in a crowded SUV segment.
Interior and technology updates
Inside, the 2016 Terrain range introduces new trim materials and options. The SL and SLE trims use a premium cloth fabric, while the SLT offers a Saddle Up leather interior. The Denali variant gets a Light Titanium and Jet Black interior theme. An eight-way power adjustable front passenger seat is now standard on SLT models. Denali versions gain a redesigned transmission shifter with chrome accents.
Safety features have also been expanded. Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are now available on SLE and SLT models, with Denali receiving these features as standard. These additions respond to growing demand for active safety technology in family SUVs.
Engines and performance
GMC has not changed the engine line-up for 2016. Buyers can choose between a 2.4-litre four-cylinder producing 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, or a 3.6-litre V6 with 301 hp and 272 lb-ft. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive remains available across the range.
