Specialty Vehicle Engineering reveals 800hp 2017 Yenko Camaro
SVE's limited-run Yenko Camaro conversion brings a supercharged 6.8-litre V8 and bespoke styling to just 50 examples based on the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS.
Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) has announced a limited run of 50 Yenko-badged 2017 Chevrolet Camaros, each producing 800hp from a heavily reworked supercharged V8. The conversion is available on both coupe and convertible versions of the Camaro SS, with buyers able to choose between 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions.
The Yenko name, once associated with legendary muscle cars from Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, is now licensed by SVE from General Marketing Capital Incorporated. The 2017 project starts with a Camaro SS already equipped with Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes and differential cooling. SVE then replaces the stock 6.2-litre LT1 V8 internals with a stroker kit, increasing displacement to 6.8 litres and fitting a supercharger. The build includes a new crankshaft, H-beam rods, forged pistons and the fuel system from the Corvette Z06.
Technical upgrades and exterior changes
The result is a dramatic jump in output, with the engine delivering 800hp. The conversion retains the Camaro’s factory cooling and braking systems, which are already uprated for performance use. SVE fits 20-inch alloy wheels with a classic design, along with distinctive Yenko badges and decals to set the car apart from standard models.
Production is capped at 50 cars, making the 2017 Yenko Camaro a rare collector’s item. SVE’s conversion is available to US buyers who supply a compatible 2017 Camaro SS. The package covers both body styles, and the transmission choice means the car appeals to a broad range of enthusiasts.
Position in the Camaro line and context
This Yenko Camaro sits above the standard SS and even the factory-built ZL1 for outright power. The project follows SVE’s earlier Yenko Corvette Grand Sport conversion and continues the trend for licensed modern interpretations of classic muscle car names.
