Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 debuts in Dubai with 755 hp and 210 mph top speed

Chevrolet has taken the wraps off the 2019 Corvette ZR1 at the Dubai Motor Show, confirming it as the fastest and most powerful production Corvette to date. The C7-generation ZR1 features a supercharged 6.2-litre LT5 V8 producing 755 hp and 715 lb-ft (969 Nm) of torque, with Chevrolet claiming a top speed in excess of 210 mph (337 km/h).

The ZR1's LT5 engine is the most powerful ever fitted to a production Corvette. It achieves its output with the help of a new 2.65-litre Eaton supercharger, which is 52 percent larger than the Z06’s unit, and a dual fuel injection system. Buyers can choose between a seven-speed manual gearbox or, for the first time in a ZR1, an eight-speed automatic. Chevrolet has not published acceleration figures, but the car is expected to reach 60 mph in under three seconds.

Aerodynamics and chassis upgrades

Chevrolet is offering two distinct aerodynamic packages. The standard ZR1 comes with a fixed “Low Wing”, designed for minimal drag and maximum top speed, delivering up to 70 percent more downforce than the base Z06. For track-focused buyers, the ZTK Performance Package adds a much larger, two-way adjustable “High Wing” and an aggressive carbon fibre front splitter, generating up to 950 pounds (430 kg) of downforce at speed. Both wings are mounted directly to the chassis for stability, and the ZTK pack also brings Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, stiffer roll bars and recalibrated Magnetic Ride Control dampers.

Cooling has been a major focus, with the ZR1 fitted with 13 heat exchangers, including four new radiators, to manage the increased thermal load from the engine and track driving. The front end is heavily revised, with a unique carbon fibre “halo” bonnet vented to clear the supercharger and intercooler, and wider front wings to accommodate broader tyres. Braking is handled by carbon ceramic Brembo discs.
