AC Schnitzer unveils full upgrade package for 2011 BMW 5 Series
Aachen-based tuner AC Schnitzer has detailed its comprehensive performance and styling programme for the F10-generation BMW 5 Series, including a 41hp boost for the 530d.
AC Schnitzer has released full details of its upgrade programme for the 2011 BMW 5 Series (F10), covering performance, suspension, brakes, wheels and interior enhancements. The German BMW specialist’s package is available immediately for the 530d, with further diesel and petrol models to follow.
Performance upgrade for 530d leads the range
The centrepiece of the AC Schnitzer F10 programme is a performance upgrade for the 530d. Output rises from the standard 245hp to 286hp, accompanied by a corresponding torque increase. Upgrades for the 520d, 525d and 535d diesels are in development, according to the company, but no figures or release dates have been confirmed.
AC Schnitzer has also developed a twin sports rear silencer with chromed "Sports Trim" tailpipe trims for the 550i, 535i, 535d and 530d, aiming to improve both sound and throttle response. For the 525d and 530d, a chromed "Racing" tailpipe is available as a visual upgrade.
Chassis, brakes and wheels
To complement the extra power, AC Schnitzer fits a spring kit that lowers the car by 25mm, promising a more sporting ride while retaining comfort. Braking is addressed with an 8-piston high performance front brake system, featuring 374mm perforated, internally vented discs and multi-piece pads. This system is designed to provide much stronger stopping power over the standard setup.

AC Schnitzer offers several wheel options for the F10, including 19- and 20-inch versions of its Type IV and Type V designs, plus Type VIII wheels in 19-inch. The lightweight forged Type V wheel is available in 20-inch fitment for reduced unsprung mass.
Aerodynamic and interior changes
The F10 receives a full aerodynamic kit, with a front spoiler, chromed grille, bonnet vents, side skirt inserts, rear roof spoiler, rear spoiler and rear skirt insert. Some elements are country-specific. The package is designed to emphasise the 5 Series’ lines without overwhelming the original design.
Inside, AC Schnitzer adds a custom steering wheel with integrated airbag, aluminium i-Drive controller cover, aluminium pedals and footrest, carbon fibre trim and illuminated gearshift knobs. A velours boot mat and floor mats complete the interior upgrades.
Comparison with rival tuners
AC Schnitzer’s 530d upgrade targets buyers seeking more power and sharper dynamics than the standard car, but without the full step up to a BMW M5. Availability and development status
The AC Schnitzer package is available for the 530d immediately, with other diesel and petrol variants to follow as development completes. Pricing depends on individual specification and market, with most components available separately or as part of a full conversion. The F10-based 5 Series saloon had been on sale in the UK since May 2010, and AC Schnitzer’s package was among the first comprehensive tuning options for the new model at launch.
