Acura TSX Sedan Updated for 2011 at LA Auto Show
Acura brought its refreshed TSX sedan to the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, revealing styling changes, interior upgrades and improved fuel economy for the 2011 model year.
Acura used the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show to present the updated TSX sedan for the 2011 model year, revealing a series of exterior and interior revisions, improved technology and small but welcome gains in fuel efficiency. The 2011 TSX sedan went on sale in the US from 23 November 2010.
Exterior and aerodynamic tweaks
The facelifted TSX receives a new front fascia, a revised chin spoiler and an updated grille. Acura has also added a new fog light garnish and underbody panels, aiming to improve aerodynamic efficiency. At the rear, the TSX gets reshaped tail lights and a new garnish for the licence plate area. Wheel options remain split by engine: standard 17-inch five-spoke alloys for the 2.4-litre four-cylinder, and 18-inch split five-spoke alloys for the 3.5-litre V-6 model.
Interior and technology upgrades
Inside, the 2011 TSX benefits from a restyled centre console, darker trim, new door handles, and revised details for the steering wheel and parking brake. The biggest changes come with the optional Technology Package. The navigation system now features an LED-backlit VGA screen with four times the previous resolution, faster operation, improved search functions and expanded map coverage. Acura has also added the Song By Voice interface and a 60GB hard drive, with 15GB reserved for personal music storage.
Engines, fuel economy and pricing
The TSX continues with a choice of two engines: a 2.4-litre four-cylinder and a 3.5-litre V-6. Both engines see a 1 mpg improvement in city, highway and combined EPA ratings over the previous year. The 2.4-litre I-4 with five-speed automatic is now rated at 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined. The six-speed manual version is rated at 21/29/24 mpg. The V-6 automatic achieves 19/28/23 mpg. These modest gains are attributed to the aerodynamic tweaks and minor engine improvements.

Position in the market
The TSX sedan remains Acura’s entry in the compact executive saloon segment, competing against the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. The 2011 facelift brings it in line with Acura’s latest design language and helps maintain its appeal in a segment where regular updates are expected. The TSX wagon, announced for 2011, expands the range further, but the sedan remains the core model.
