Nissan has confirmed UK pricing for the new NP300 Navara, with the range starting at £21,995 for the 2WD King Cab in Visia trim. The new-generation pickup, which recently took the International Pick-up of the Year 2016 award, is now available to order as production ramps up at Nissan’s Barcelona plant.

The NP300 Navara introduces a 2.3-litre dCi diesel engine, available in two outputs: 157hp with a single turbo and 187hp with a twin-turbo setup. Buyers can choose between two- and four-wheel drive, as well as six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmissions. The new model is offered in both King Cab and Double Cab body styles, with the Double Cab benefiting from a new five-link rear suspension setup aimed at improving ride comfort and handling.

Trim levels and equipment

Nissan offers five trims in the UK: Visia, Acenta, Acenta+, N-Connecta and Tekna. The entry-level Visia is available only with the King Cab, while higher trims can be specified with either cab style. Standard safety kit includes Forward Emergency Braking, seven airbags, electronic limited slip differential, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control. The Double Cab also features Nissan’s Around View Monitor system for a 360-degree camera view.

  • Visia: basic trim, King Cab only
  • Acenta: adds more equipment, both cabs
  • Acenta+: further upgrades
  • N-Connecta: advanced connectivity features
  • Tekna: top specification, both cabs

Market context and rivals

The new Navara faces competition from the Mitsubishi L200 and Ford Ranger, both of which have recently been updated. The NP300’s International Pick-up of the Year win in Lyon put it ahead of these rivals, with judges highlighting the new rear suspension and safety technology. UK sales are set to begin in early 2016, as Nissan aims to strengthen its position in the pickup market.
