Audi RS 5 Coupé voted “SportsCar 2010” by Auto Bild readers
Audi’s RS 5 Coupé has claimed the top spot in the “Production Coupes” category of the 2010 “SportsCar of the Year” awards, with strong showings for several other Audi performance models.
Audi’s RS 5 Coupé has been named “SportsCar 2010” in the Production Coupes category, following a reader poll conducted by Auto Bild SportsCars. The award, announced in December 2010, reflects the preferences of over 68,000 readers who voted across 17 categories, covering a total of 173 vehicles.
The RS 5’s win comes after all eligible cars were subjected to more than 300 tests and road reports by the magazine, underlining the model’s standing among German performance coupes. The RS 5, which debuted earlier in 2010, features a 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 producing 450 PS, quattro all-wheel drive and a seven-speed S tronic transmission. Its blend of power, handling and everyday usability helped it stand out in a crowded field.
Audi’s performance line-up recognised
Audi’s success at the 2010 awards extended beyond the RS 5 Coupé. The R8 GT secured second place among Production Supercars, while the R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI was runner-up in the Production Convertibles category. The S3 Sportback and RS 6 Avant both finished third in their respective segments for Production Compact Cars and Production Station Wagons.
