Elia Gives Dacia Duster a Distinctive Tuning Package
German tuner Elia has launched a customisation kit for the Dacia Duster, featuring bold exterior upgrades, 20-inch alloys and a Pioneer multimedia system.
Elia, the German aftermarket specialist, has introduced a new tuning package for the Dacia Duster, aiming to give the budget SUV a more individual look. The package, revealed in late 2012, focuses on exterior enhancements and multimedia upgrades rather than performance changes.
The show car, finished in white, stands out with a mix of chromed ornaments and matte black accessories. Elia has fitted the Duster with two bull-bars, LED taillights, a stainless steel exhaust system and large 20-inch alloy wheels. These changes are aimed at owners seeking a more upmarket appearance for the Romanian-built SUV, which was preparing for its UK launch at the time.
Exterior upgrades and equipment
Visual modifications dominate the Elia package. The substantial 20-inch alloys fill the Duster’s arches, though their size could have implications for ride comfort and performance, especially as the standard car was not designed for such large wheels. The bull-bars and chromed detailing are designed to give the Duster a tougher, more distinctive presence, while the matte black trim provides contrast. Inside, Elia has left the Duster’s cabin unchanged apart from replacing the factory infotainment with a Pioneer 2DIN multimedia system. This unit includes navigation, a CD player and a micro SD slot, but omits USB and AUX connections. This is a departure from the Media Nav system fitted to later Dacia models, which offered broader connectivity options. The upgrade is intended for owners who want integrated navigation and multimedia without altering the rest of the interior.
No mechanical changes or pricing details
Elia’s package leaves the Duster’s engines and running gear untouched. The large wheels may affect acceleration and fuel economy, but no suspension or brake upgrades are part of the kit. At launch, Elia had not released pricing for the individual components or the full package. The focus is squarely on visual personalisation rather than performance gains.
The Dacia Duster has attracted attention as a low-cost SUV with robust sales across Europe, including a strong start in the UK.
