Five Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG SUVs have been listed for sale in Dubai by Al Ain Class Motors, with four of the vehicles described as brand new and the fifth showing only 4,000 miles on the odometer. The selection brings together some of the lowest-mileage examples of the flagship G-Class AMG available anywhere in 2012.

The G65 AMG was introduced as the most powerful version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, fitted with a 6.0-litre bi-turbo V12 engine producing 603hp and 1,000Nm of torque. This allows the heavy SUV to reach 100km/h from standstill in a claimed 5.3 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 230km/h. The model sits at the top of the G-Class range, both in performance and price, and was only available in limited numbers worldwide at launch.

Colour and condition options

Buyers in Dubai have a choice of finishes. Two of the new G65 AMGs are painted white, one is blue, and another is finished in red. The fifth vehicle, which has covered 4,000 miles, is presented in matte black. All five are left-hand drive, as is standard for the region. The presence of four new, unregistered G65 AMGs in one dealership is unusual, reflecting both the demand for high-end performance SUVs in the UAE and the region's appetite for exclusive vehicles.

Market context and exclusivity

The United Arab Emirates market has long shown strong demand for high-performance luxury SUVs, and the G65 AMG sits firmly in that niche. At the time, the global financial crisis had little impact on the region's appetite for rare and expensive vehicles. The G65 AMG’s combination of power, off-road heritage and exclusivity made it a sought-after choice for collectors and buyers in Dubai.

The G65 AMG’s engine and chassis were closely related to those used in other AMG V12 models of the era, such as the S65 AMG, but the G-Class’s upright body and off-road underpinnings gave it a unique character. For buyers considering other AMG models from the period, the G65 offered the highest output in an SUV body. For comparison, the S65 AMG saloon featured a similar V12 powertrain but was targeted at a different clientele.

What it means for used G65 AMG buyers

For those in the market for a G65 AMG, the Dubai offering in 2012 presented a rare chance to acquire a new or nearly-new example of a model that was otherwise difficult to source. The presence of multiple colour options and a low-mileage used example gave buyers some choice in specification, which was not always possible given the limited production run and high demand for the V12 G-Class globally.
