Digital artist X-Tomi Design has created renderings of a Ford Mondeo Shooting Brake, reimagining the familiar estate as a sleek three-door with styling cues reminiscent of high-end GTs.
Renderings of a Ford Mondeo Shooting Brake have surfaced, showing how the current-generation Mondeo could look as a three-door estate. The digital images, created by X-Tomi Design, take the familiar lines of Ford’s large family car and give them a sportier, more upmarket twist.
The concept moves away from the five-door estate format Ford currently offers with the Mondeo, instead proposing a three-door layout with a long, low roof and pronounced rear haunches. The result is a silhouette closer to high-end grand tourers than mainstream family estates, with a front grille that recalls Aston Martin’s design language and proportions reminiscent of the Ferrari FF.
The fifth-generation Mondeo, launched in Europe in 2014 after its Detroit debut in 2012, is built at Ford’s Valencia plant and sold in hatchback, saloon and estate forms. Engine choices range from the award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost to a selection of larger petrol and diesel units. The rendered Shooting Brake, however, is purely speculative and not part of Ford’s current product plans.
Aesthetic appeal over practicality
Shooting Brakes traditionally blend sporting looks with estate practicality, but the imagined Mondeo version leans heavily on style. The three-door format would likely reduce rear-seat access and boot versatility compared to the standard estate, but the profile stands out in a segment dominated by function-first designs.
