ABT AS6-R Avant debuts at Geneva with 600hp and carbon aero
ABT Sportsline revealed its 600hp AS6-R Avant at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, turning the Audi S6 estate into a faster, more aggressive machine with extensive performance and styling upgrades.
ABT Sportsline unveiled its 600hp AS6-R Avant at the Geneva Motor Show, delivering a substantial upgrade over the standard Audi S6 Avant estate. The German tuning firm, known for its work on VW Group models, used the show to reveal the most powerful S6-based estate it has built to date.
The AS6-R Avant’s 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 receives ABT’s POWER S upgrade, which includes optimised engine management and a new turbocharger. Power output climbs to 600hp, an increase of 180hp over the standard S6 and 40hp more than the factory RS6. Torque rises from 550Nm to 750Nm, giving the tuned estate the credentials to rival high-end super saloons.
Performance figures reflect the engineering work. The AS6-R Avant accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds, nearly a second quicker than the standard S6. ABT also removes the S6’s electronic limiter, allowing a claimed top speed of 310km/h. These figures place the AS6-R in direct competition with the fastest estates on the market at the time.
Chassis and styling upgrades
ABT has fitted the AS6-R Avant with ER-X 21-inch weight-optimised alloy wheels, shod with high-performance tyres to match the increased power. The chassis modifications are complemented by a bespoke sport exhaust system, designed to produce a more aggressive sound than the standard car.
Visually, the AS6-R Avant stands apart from its donor car. The body kit includes a front skirt add-on, side skirt extensions and a rear spoiler, all constructed from exposed carbon fibre. These elements give the car a more purposeful stance while reducing weight. The carbon treatment extends to the rear, where the spoiler enhances both looks and aerodynamic stability at speed.
Market context and rivals
ABT’s AS6-R Avant arrives at a time when performance estates are gaining popularity among buyers seeking supercar pace with everyday practicality. By exceeding the power of Audi’s own RS6, the AS6-R targets enthusiasts who want exclusivity and higher performance from a familiar platform.
