Jaguar F-Type Coupe to Debut at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show
Jaguar will unveil the long-awaited F-Type Coupe at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, confirming the hardtop addition to its sports car line-up.
Jaguar has confirmed it will unveil the production F-Type Coupe at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, marking the first public appearance of the hardtop version of its two-seater sports car. The debut is scheduled for 10 September, with the car set to join the existing F-Type Roadster in the range.
The F-Type Coupe has been anticipated since Jaguar launched the roadster in 2012. While test mules and concept versions have appeared, this is the first time Jaguar has officially confirmed the hardtop’s arrival. The coupe is expected to share its aluminium structure and much of its mechanical package with the convertible, but with a fixed roof that promises increased stiffness and a different silhouette.
Styling details remain under wraps ahead of Frankfurt, but the coupe is expected to inherit the muscular proportions of the F-Type Roadster. Unique features will include a sloping roofline, a new rear window design and a more pronounced rear haunch. The car’s profile is closely based on the C-X16 concept shown in 2011, which previewed Jaguar’s intentions for a compact, driver-focused coupe.
Engine line-up and performance
Jaguar has not released full technical details, but the F-Type Coupe is expected to carry over the engine range from the Roadster. This includes a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 in two states of tune (340PS and 380PS), as well as a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 producing up to 495PS. There have also been suggestions that a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder could join the line-up, but Jaguar has not confirmed this for the production model.

The coupe’s fixed roof is likely to result in a stiffer chassis compared to the roadster, which could improve handling and refinement. Pricing has not been confirmed, but industry expectations suggest a premium over the convertible due to the coupe’s structural advantages and potential for higher performance versions.
Jaguar’s sports car strategy
The F-Type Coupe’s arrival strengthens Jaguar’s position in the sports car segment, providing a direct rival to models such as the Porsche Cayman and 911. The coupe will sit alongside the roadster, offering buyers a choice of body styles for the first time since the E-Type era. The move also builds on interest generated by the C-X16 concept and follows a series of leaks and test sightings in the run-up to Frankfurt.
