BMW has launched the M235i Track Edition, a special version of its compact coupé, exclusively for the Netherlands. Production is capped at just 12 units, making it one of the rarest M Performance models of the era.

The M235i Track Edition builds on the standard M235i platform with a suite of M Performance upgrades. These include a more aggressive body kit with a front splitter, revised side skirts, a rear diffuser and a boot-mounted spoiler. The car rides on 19-inch lightweight alloys and features a blacked-out grille and a stainless steel sports exhaust system.

Inside, the changes are focused on tactile upgrades. The Track Edition receives an Alcantara-wrapped sport steering wheel, an Alcantara and carbon-fibre handbrake lever, aluminium pedals and subtle trim enhancements, reinforcing the track-inspired brief without sacrificing everyday usability.

Performance and mechanicals

Power comes from BMW’s 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo straight-six, producing 326hp (240kW) and 450Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims a 0–100km/h time of 4.8 seconds, with the top speed electronically limited to 250km/h. No mechanical changes have been made to the powertrain or chassis compared to the standard M235i, so the Track Edition’s upgrades are primarily visual and equipment-based rather than performance-enhancing.

Market position and exclusivity

With only a dozen cars planned, the M235i Track Edition is targeted at Dutch enthusiasts seeking a factory-built car with track-inspired styling and rarity. The price of €83,000 positions it above the standard M235i, reflecting both the extra equipment and the scarcity. For comparison, this approach mirrors BMW’s strategy with other limited editions such as the M3 GTSand X6 M Performance Edition, which also combined visual upgrades with limited production runs.

What buyers get for the premium

Buyers receive a factory warranty and the assurance of original BMW parts, with no need to retrofit aftermarket components to achieve the Track Edition’s look. The Alcantara interior and M Performance bodywork distinguish it from the standard car, but the underlying mechanical package remains unchanged. This edition is aimed at collectors and brand loyalists who value exclusivity and official provenance over outright performance increases.

With the entire allocation limited to the Netherlands, the M235i Track Edition is unlikely to appear elsewhere, ensuring its status as a collector’s item among BMW enthusiasts in the region.
