Range Rover Sport Autobiography Limited Edition Unveiled at Frankfurt
Land Rover introduced the Range Rover Sport Autobiography limited edition at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, offering exclusive styling and luxury features with only 500 units for the UK.
Land Rover presented the Range Rover Sport Autobiography limited edition at the 2009 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, capping the launch of its updated 2010 line-up. The special edition was restricted to 500 units for the UK, with sales scheduled to begin in January 2010.
Exclusive design and interior features
The Autobiography limited edition was offered on both the 3.6-litre TDV8 diesel and Supercharged petrol derivatives. Land Rover equipped the model with a duo-tone premium leather interior, a first for the Range Rover Sport, and unique exterior cues. These included a bespoke grille, side vents and 20-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels. Each car also received a new body kit designed to accentuate the updated Sport’s styling.
The interior specification focused on raising comfort and luxury. Buyers could choose from several themes, with the Autobiography trim introducing new colour combinations and materials. The package also included the Logic 7 1200W Harman Kardon audio system with 15 channels and 19 speakers, which was then the top-tier offering for the range.
Technical and comfort upgrades for 2010
The 2010 model year brought a series of technical improvements to the Range Rover Sport line-up, including the introduction of the new 5.0-litre supercharged LR-V8 engine for the flagship Range Rover. For the Sport Autobiography, the focus remained on the TDV8 and Supercharged options. At the same time, Land Rover introduced new luxury options across the broader Range Rover range, such as electronically-controlled reclining rear seats with heating, cooling and four-way lumbar adjustment, as well as laminated privacy glass to reduce noise.
Rear passengers in the flagship Range Rover could also benefit from increased legroom, thanks to the ability to move the front passenger seat forward remotely when unoccupied. These enhancements were aimed at buyers seeking chauffeur-driven comfort, but the Sport Autobiography’s upgrades were more focused on style and exclusivity than rear seat amenities.
Position in the market and availability
The Range Rover Sport Autobiography limited edition represented the most exclusive version of the Sport available in 2010. Its limited run, bespoke detailing and high specification targeted buyers looking for both performance and luxury in a large SUV. Pricing details were not announced at launch, with Land Rover stating that figures would be released closer to the January 2010 on-sale date.
