Volkswagen Golf Plus LIFE Edition expands equipment for 2013
Volkswagen introduces the Golf Plus LIFE Edition, adding extra comfort and style features to the MPV and offering a wide range of engines from 80 to 140 horsepower.
Volkswagen has launched the Golf Plus LIFE Edition, a new trim level for the Golf Plus aimed at buyers wanting more equipment and visual distinction without moving up to a premium badge. The LIFE Edition was announced for the German market in late 2012, with orders opening at a starting price of €21,200 for the base petrol model.
Equipment upgrades over standard Golf Plus
The LIFE Edition builds on the regular Golf Plus specification with several comfort and style features. Standard kit includes 16-inch Spokane alloy wheels, fog lights, chrome trim on the air inlet grilles, and tinted side and rear windows. LED lighting for the rear registration plate completes the exterior changes.
Inside, the LIFE Edition adds heated front seats, a multifunction leather steering wheel, ParkPilot parking sensors, and dual-zone Climatronic automatic air conditioning. The seats use Matrixline fabric and offer additional adjustment, while the gearlever and handbrake are trimmed in leather. A multifunction Plus display and centre armrest round out the interior upgrades.
Engine options and pricing
Volkswagen offers the LIFE Edition with a broad engine range. Buyers can choose from seven petrol engines, with outputs from 80 to 122 horsepower, and six diesel engines from 105 to 140 horsepower. The entry-level price applies to the 1.4-litre petrol engine. Volkswagen claims the LIFE Edition offers up to €3,400 in added value compared to a similarly equipped regular Golf Plus.

Value for buyers
Volkswagen's LIFE Edition strategy mirrors similar trim packages across its range, bundling popular options at a lower price than if specified individually. For families or older buyers attracted to the Golf Plus for its higher seating position and practicality, the LIFE Edition brings a more upmarket feel without a steep jump in price. The broad engine line-up means the model can be tailored for urban, long-distance or higher performance use.
