Ford launches Shelby GT350 and GT350R online configurator
Buyers can now customise and price the 2016 Shelby Mustang GT350 and GT350R online, with the GT350 starting at $48,695 and the GT350R at $62,195.
Ford has introduced an online configurator for the Shelby Mustang GT350 and GT350R, giving prospective buyers in the US market the ability to select colours, options and performance packages before placing an order. Pricing for the GT350 starts at $48,695, while the track-focused GT350R begins at $62,195.
Both models are powered by Ford’s 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. The engine, which revs to 8,250 rpm, is the most power-dense naturally aspirated road engine Ford has built. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed Tremec manual transmission.
Customisation and pricing details
The online configurator allows buyers to choose from a range of exterior paints, stripe packages and interior trims. Optional extras include the Technology Package for the GT350 and the Electronics Package for the GT350R, adding features such as upgraded audio and navigation. Performance options such as carbon fibre wheels and aerodynamic enhancements are available on the GT350R.

How the configurator fits into Ford’s strategy
Ford’s move to launch the GT350 and GT350R configurator follows similar digital rollouts for the broader Mustang range and other performance models. The company aims to streamline the buying process and capitalise on demand for customisation in the US muscle car segment. The configurator brings the Shelby models in line with rivals such as the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and BMW 4 Series Convertible, which already offer detailed online build tools.
