Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG named Germany’s most attractive car by AUTO BILD readers
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has been voted Germany’s most attractive new car in a major public poll, with the E-Class Cabriolet and F 800 Style concept also recognised.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has been voted Germany’s most attractive car in the latest AUTO BILD readers’ poll, securing top spot among 103 new models. The result places the SLS AMG ahead of every other newly launched car in the country, following a vote by around 100,000 participants in the magazine’s annual survey.
The poll, now in its fifth year, is organised by AUTO BILD, Germany’s largest car magazine. This year’s contest covered five categories and included a wide range of new production and concept vehicles. The SLS AMG’s win reflects both its impact as a flagship supercar and the strong response to its design from the German public.
Second place overall went to another Mercedes model, the E-Class Cabriolet, further underlining the brand’s current design momentum. In the “Studies & Concept Cars” category, the Mercedes-Benz F 800 Style was the readers’ favourite, rounding out a sweep for the Stuttgart marque across the main categories.
SLS AMG design draws public acclaim
The SLS AMG’s styling, with its long bonnet, short rear deck and distinctive gullwing doors, has drawn widespread attention since its debut. Positioned as Mercedes-Benz’s halo supercar and developed by AMG, the SLS AMG revives classic cues from the 1950s 300 SL while presenting a modern, aggressive profile. Its selection as Germany’s most attractive car highlights how well the design has resonated with both traditional enthusiasts and a broader audience.
The SLS AMG is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 engine, producing 571 PS and paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Performance and engineering play a role in the car’s appeal, but the AUTO BILD poll was focused on design rather than technical specifications.
Mercedes-Benz dominates the poll
Mercedes-Benz’s strong showing in the poll extends beyond the SLS AMG. The E-Class Cabriolet’s second place overall confirms the popularity of the brand’s open-top models. The F 800 Style, a concept car previewing future design and technology, was named the most attractive in its category, indicating positive public reception for Mercedes-Benz’s design direction across both production and concept vehicles.
- SLS AMG: Germany’s most attractive new car (overall winner)
- E-Class Cabriolet: second place overall
- F 800 Style: winner, concept car category
The results of the AUTO BILD poll reinforce Mercedes-Benz’s position as a leader in automotive design among German buyers. The SLS AMG’s win, in particular, provides a boost to the brand’s image in the high-performance segment and confirms the public’s enthusiasm for its current styling approach.
