First US BMW M3 (F80) Delivered Gets MORR Wheels Makeover
The inaugural 2015 BMW M3 delivered in the United States has received a full suite of upgrades from MORR Wheels, including a power boost and bespoke wheels.
The first 2015 BMW M3 (F80) handed over to a US customer has already been modified, with MORR Wheels completing a comprehensive upgrade package for the car’s new owner, Josh Shokri, founder of Speed District. Delivered with a high factory specification, the car was quickly taken to MORR Wheels for aftermarket enhancements.
Specification and factory options
Shokri’s M3 arrived in the US with carbon fibre interior trim, black extended merino leather and the optional M-DCT dual-clutch transmission. The car also left the dealership with BMW’s Lighting and Driver Assistance packages, which add adaptive LED headlights and a suite of driver aids. The F80 M3 is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six (S55), which in standard form produces 425hp and 550Nm of torque.
MORR Wheels modifications
MORR Wheels supplied a set of 20-inch MonoForged VS52 Competition wheels, finished to suit the car’s aggressive stance. Braking was upgraded with a Brembo Big Brake Kit, comprising 380mm discs at both axles, yellow 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rears. The visual impact is immediate, but the mechanical changes are more substantial still.
The company has not released performance figures, but the jump from the factory output suggests a major step up in straight-line pace. The exact nature of the beta tune has not been detailed, and there are no independent figures to verify the claimed power and torque. The car’s transmission remains the M-DCT dual-clutch automatic, which is well suited to handling the additional power.
Aftermarket interest in the F80 M3
The F80-generation M3 had only just begun reaching US buyers in late 2014, but aftermarket companies like MORR Wheels were already targeting early adopters. The combination of a turbocharged six-cylinder, dual-clutch gearbox and modern electronics made the new M3 a popular base for tuning firms.
