BMW updates UK 6 Series with subtle styling and equipment tweaks
BMW has refreshed its 6 Series range for the UK market, introducing revised styling, standard LED headlights and minor equipment changes across the coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe.
BMW has introduced a round of updates to its 6 Series range in the UK, focusing on subtle exterior changes, additional standard equipment and minor chassis tweaks for the 2015 model year. The revisions apply to the coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe body styles, with the first cars arriving in showrooms from summer 2015.
Exterior changes and new finishes
The most visible change is the new kidney grille, which now features nine bars instead of ten. On six-cylinder models, the bars are finished in black, while V8-powered variants receive matt aluminium. All versions now come with full LED headlights as standard, complemented by updated indicators. Adaptive LED headlights with Selective Beam anti-dazzle High Beam Assistant are offered as an option.
At the rear, BMW has fitted a horizontal chrome bumper insert and enlarged the chrome tailpipe by 10mm. A sports exhaust system with a switchable valve is now included, designed to deliver a more pronounced engine note when desired. Five new metallic paint finishes, Melbourne Red, Mediterranean Blue, Glacier Silver, Cashmere Silver and Jatoba, expand the customisation options. The coupe and convertible also receive new 18-inch alloy wheels as standard.
Chassis and interior updates
BMW has made minor suspension adjustments, with the Dynamic Damper Control system allowing further personalisation of ride and handling. The sports exhaust is intended to enhance the driving experience, particularly for buyers seeking a more engaging soundtrack. Interior changes are limited, with the focus remaining on equipment upgrades rather than a full redesign.
Engines and pricing
The engine line-up carries over unchanged. The 640d uses a 3.0-litre diesel straight-six producing 313hp and 630Nm of torque, while the 640i’s petrol straight-six delivers 320hp and 450Nm. The 650i’s 4.4-litre V8 outputs 450hp and 650Nm. At the top of the range, the M6 retains its 560hp, 680Nm twin-turbo V8. Pricing for the 640d coupe starts at £62,295, with the M6 coupe from £92,350.
