Mercedes-Benz has released a new official promotional video for the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series, drawing fresh attention to the most extreme version of its C-Class coupe. The video, launched in May 2012, puts the car’s aggressive styling and performance credentials at centre stage.

Track-ready specification and design

The C63 AMG Coupe Black Series stands out for its widened body, with the front track increased by up to 4cm and the rear arches flared by an additional 5.6 to 8.4cm. The car sits on 19-inch alloy wheels, shod with 255/35 tyres at the front and 285/30 at the rear, underlining its circuit intentions. The visual changes are matched by mechanical upgrades aimed at serious drivers.

Under the bonnet, the AMG-developed 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 (M156) delivers 517hp at 6,800rpm and peak torque of 620Nm at 5,000rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed automatic gearbox, which can shift in as little as one tenth of a second in Sport+ and Manual modes. Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100km/h time of 4.2 seconds for the Black Series coupe.

Position in the AMG range

The Black Series badge is reserved for the most hardcore AMG models, and the C63 Coupe Black Series sits above the standard C63 AMG Coupe in both performance and price. Its uprated engine, widened stance and focus on track capability mark it as a rival to cars such as the BMW M3 GTS and previous AMG Black Series models. For buyers, the Black Series offers a more aggressive package than the standard C63 AMG Coupe, with a specification tailored for track days as well as road use.

AMG Black Series in video promotions

This new video follows Mercedes-Benz’s established pattern of using high-quality promotional films to showcase its AMG models’ performance and design. The C63 AMG Coupe Black Series is presented as a road-legal car with clear motorsport inspiration, and the film highlights both its technical features and its visual impact. The strategy mirrors similar campaigns for other AMG Black Series models, such as the SLS AMG Black Series.

The C63 AMG Coupe Black Series remains a reference point for Mercedes-Benz’s performance division, and its launch campaign underlines the brand’s focus on combining track capability with road car usability. The new promo video is aimed at enthusiasts and collectors looking for the most focused C-Class AMG available at the time.
