2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe facelift spied testing with subtle updates
A camouflaged prototype of the refreshed Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe has been filmed on public roads, hinting at mild styling tweaks and deeper mechanical changes for the 2019 model year.
Mercedes-Benz’s facelifted C-Class Coupe has been caught on video undergoing road tests ahead of its expected 2019 launch. The camouflaged prototype reveals modest exterior revisions, while more substantial changes are anticipated under the skin.
The prototype, seen with black-and-white camouflage on the nose and tail, suggests Mercedes is planning only minor visual tweaks for the two-door C-Class. The headlights appear revised, with updated LED signatures, while the front bumper design is likely to change, though details remain hidden by wraps. The rear also carries camouflage, indicating mild alterations to the tail-lights and bumper.
Mechanical updates are expected to be more significant. Mercedes is preparing to roll out its new family of straight-six petrol and diesel engines, moving away from the previous V6 units. These engines will be supported by a new 48-volt mild hybrid electrical system, designed to improve low-end torque and boost fuel efficiency. The same mechanical package is expected to reach the C-Class Cabriolet, which shares its platform and most components with the Coupe.
Styling tweaks and mechanical upgrades
The changes follow the pattern seen elsewhere in the Mercedes range, where mid-cycle facelifts tend to focus on technology and powertrain improvements rather than dramatic styling shifts.
