Heico Sportiv Reveals Tuned Volvo V40 with More Power and Sharper Looks
Heico Sportiv's package for the Volvo V40 brings a 192hp remap for the D4 engine, sharper bodywork and lowered suspension, with further variants in development.
Heico Sportiv has launched a new upgrade package for the Volvo V40, increasing power from the D4 diesel engine and adding a sharper look to the Swedish hatch. The official Volvo tuning partner for Germany and Switzerland revealed its latest work at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show, targeting drivers who want more performance and presence from their V40.
Power and performance upgrades
The central change is an ECU remap for the five-cylinder D4 diesel. Heico Sportiv claims the engine now produces 192hp (195PS), up from the standard 174hp (177PS), with torque at 400Nm. This extra power trims a full second from the 0-100km/h sprint, making the tuned car noticeably quicker off the mark. Top speed also increases by 10km/h compared to the stock D4.
Heico Sportiv says its upgrade is compatible with Volvo’s factory warranty in Germany, and further power kits for the T3, T4 and T5 petrol engines are in the pipeline. The company has not yet published figures for these variants, but expects to release them soon.
Styling and chassis changes
Beyond the engine, Heico Sportiv has developed a full styling package for the V40. The kit includes a new front apron and rear diffuser, both designed to give the hatchback a more aggressive stance. A sports exhaust system with chrome-plated tailpipes is also fitted, and buyers can choose between 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels. The ride height drops by 30mm thanks to revised suspension, promising sharper handling and a lower centre of gravity.
Inside, Heico Sportiv offers a range of accessories, though specific details have not been disclosed. The focus remains on combining Swedish practicality with a more overtly sporting character.
Further variants and availability
While the D4 diesel is the first to receive the full Heico Sportiv treatment, the company confirmed that performance upgrades for Volvo’s T3, T4 and T5 petrol engines are under development. These will broaden the appeal of the package to a wider range of V40 buyers once available.
Heico Sportiv’s V40 package is available through Volvo’s official dealer network in Germany, Switzerland and select overseas markets. The company’s close relationship with Volvo Car Germany and Volvo Automobile (Schweiz) AG ensures a level of integration and warranty support not always found in the aftermarket tuning sector.
How it compares
The V40’s main rivals in the premium hatchback segment include the BMW 1 Series and Audi A3, both of which have established aftermarket support. Heico Sportiv’s focus on factory-backed upgrades and warranty retention is likely to appeal to buyers wary of compromising reliability or resale value.
