The Munich-based automaker is following a new strategy for its M Performance clients – if they don’t want or can’t afford to pay for the M models they now have the option to upgrade the any stock model with select parts.
The latest model series to undergo this in-house tuning treatment is the new 2 Series Convertible model, which undergoes the sporty treatment to increase the overall appeal. With the possibility to add original BMW Accessories from the M Performance range the new 2 Series Convertible can undergo deep stylistic and technical modifications. On the outside the Bavarian automaker has fitted the cabrio with side skirts, skirt decals with M Performance lettering and a new rear diffuser. They match well with the new front grille with black trim surround and the carbon exterior mirror caps. The flank of the car is adorned with M Performance accent strips and the M Performance 19-inch light-alloy wheels compliment the overall design. For added sound flair, there’s a stainless steel silencer with chromed tailpipe embellishers and inscribed M logo.
The interior gets the carbon fiber treatment – with a host of products that use high-quality carbon (some combined with Alcantara) – including the retrofit of the centre console trim, centre armrest and interior trim strips. Also at hand are Alcantara steering wheels with carbon trim – with the optional addition of the integrated Race Display. Users can also order the BMW M Performance key case, with an Alcantara/carbon material combination and blue hex bolt.
The performance side is taken care of with the M Performance Power Kit that can be had in combination with the 220d Convertible, increasing engine power to 151 kW/204 hp from 190 hp and lowering the 0 – 100 km/h time by 0.3 seconds.
