The first images with a pickup version of the Dacia Duster have ended up on the web, as the model in question has been spotted in Romania recently.
Dacia may be introducing a pickup version of the Duster and after the new generation of the Logan being introduced last year, the company no longer has a pickup in its lineup. But that is about to change soon. The Renault-owned car brand is currently working on the pickup and the images posted below are showing a prototype of the model which has been based on the pre-facelifted Duster. According to the guys at Auto Industry News, the vehicle pictured below is made by Romturingia, a coachbuilder, which is specialized in modifying Dacia vehicles.
Renault’s involvement in this project was limited to technical support and it seems that the Dacia Duster pickup has been made after requests from big fleet customers who wanted a multi-pupose vehicle with off-road capabilities and a generous open loading area. Our source is also saying that the Duster Pickup has many components shared with the Duster SUV but it has a single cab with two seats, in order to get a big load area with a 1.7 meter long bed which can take up to 400 kg. We have no clue on what engine the model in question is using but we do know that Dacia should consider building one itself.
