Leaked images reveal 2015 Mazda2 interior ahead of official debut

Images of the 2015 Mazda2’s interior have emerged online, giving the first clear look at the supermini’s redesigned cabin before Mazda’s official unveiling later in 2014. The leaked photos highlight a substantial move away from the previous model’s layout, with a more streamlined dashboard and new technology features.
The new interior adopts a minimalist approach, with far fewer physical buttons and a prominent free-standing infotainment screen mounted above the centre console. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped, and metallic accents are visible throughout the cabin. The centre air vent sits above a narrow row of controls, while the climate controls have been repositioned lower down, giving the dashboard a cleaner look.
Interior changes and new features
Compared with the outgoing Mazda2, the 2015 model’s cabin brings it closer in line with larger Mazda models, such as the Mazda3, with a more upmarket feel. The new infotainment system, operated via the touchscreen or a rotary controller, replaces the older, button-heavy layout. The instrument cluster is simplified, with a large central speedometer and smaller digital displays for other information.
Material quality appears improved, with the use of stitched surfaces and gloss black trim in the leaked images. The steering wheel and gear lever both feature leather coverings, and the metallic detailing adds contrast to the otherwise dark interior palette. Mazda’s move towards a less cluttered, more driver-focused cockpit is evident throughout the design.
Dimensions and engine options
Alongside the interior overhaul, the 2015 Mazda2 grows by 160mm in length and 25mm in height compared with its predecessor, while retaining the same width. The wheelbase increases by 80mm, which should translate into more interior space for passengers. The updated platform is expected to improve both ride comfort and handling.

Engine choices for the next Mazda2 will include a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol unit in 75hp and 107hp outputs, as well as a 1.6-litre diesel producing 105hp and 250Nm of torque. These figures come from early prototype specifications and may be updated closer to launch.
