Land Rover introduced the Range Rover SVAutobiography as the new range-topping model at the 2015 New York Auto Show, highlighting its upgraded luxury and performance credentials. Developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations, the SVAutobiography sits above the existing Autobiography trim and brings bespoke styling and powertrain upgrades to the line-up.

The SVAutobiography is distinguished by details such as a Graphite Atlas and polished chrome grille, revised bonnet lettering and a quad exhaust setup. Buyers can specify a duo-tone paint scheme, pairing a Santorini Black upper body with a choice of nine lower body colours. These visual changes mark out the SVAutobiography as the most exclusive Range Rover in the current line-up.

Inside, the focus is on passenger comfort and craftsmanship. The long wheelbase version offers rear seat occupants features such as a sliding load floor finished in wood and aluminium, and deployable Windsor leather seats that can be mounted on the tailgate for events or leisure. The cabin is finished with high-grade materials and bespoke detailing, reflecting its position as the flagship Range Rover.

Performance and powertrain options

The SVAutobiography’s headline engine is a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 producing 550hp and 680Nm of torque, enabling the long wheelbase version to reach 60mph in a claimed 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 140mph. In Europe, Land Rover will also offer SDV6 Hybrid and SDV8 diesel variants, broadening the appeal for markets where petrol V8s are less in demand.

Pricing and availability

US pricing for the SVAutobiography starts at $199,495, positioning it firmly in the luxury SUV segment. Land Rover scheduled the model for launch in autumn 2015. The SVAutobiography’s arrival strengthens Land Rover’s offering at the very top of the luxury SUV market, competing against rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Bentley’s upcoming Bentayga.
