Audi RS3 Cabrio Visualised in Independent Renderings
Digital artist Theophilus Chin has imagined an Audi RS3 Cabrio, but Audi has no current plans to produce a convertible RS3, focusing instead on the hatchback and saloon.
Independent renderings of an Audi RS3 Cabrio have surfaced online, offering an unofficial glimpse at what a high-performance convertible based on the RS3 might look like. The digital images, created by designer Theophilus Chin, adapt the aggressive styling of Audi’s RS3 to the cabriolet format, but there is no indication from Audi that such a model will reach production.
Audi’s RS3 is the brand’s most potent version of the A3, traditionally offered as a hatchback and, in some markets, as a saloon. The renderings show the RS3’s signature wide arches, aggressive bumpers and large wheels, but with the roof removed. The result is a visual blend of the RS3’s performance cues and the open-air appeal of Audi’s standard A3 Cabriolet.
No plans for production RS3 Cabrio
Audi has not confirmed any intention to build an RS3 Cabrio. The company has focused its RS3 strategy on the five-door Sportback and the four-door saloon, both of which use the 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine. In its most recent form, this engine produces up to 400hp and is paired with quattro all-wheel drive.
RS3 Cabrio: The digital artist’s approach
Theophilus Chin’s renderings apply the RS3’s front and rear styling to the A3 Cabriolet’s body, including the signature honeycomb grille, enlarged air intakes and RS-specific wheels. The visual result is consistent with Audi’s RS design language, but the images remain speculative. Audi’s official RS3 development continues to focus on performance improvements for the hatchback and saloon, including weight-saving measures, chassis upgrades and further tuning of the five-cylinder engine.
The RS3 Cabrio renderings join a growing trend of digital artists imagining high-performance variants that manufacturers have not officially confirmed. Audi itself has a history of launching RS versions in limited body styles, with the RS3 Sportback and RS3 Saloon as the current production models.
