Deadmau5 Takes Delivery of His McLaren P1 Hypercar

Canadian DJ Deadmau5’s McLaren P1, finished in dark blue, has arrived after months of anticipation, joining a rare group of just 375 units produced worldwide.

Joel Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5, has added a McLaren P1 to his garage. The Canadian DJ’s car was delivered recently, though Zimmerman himself was away at the time. The P1 joins the upper tier of modern hybrid hypercars, with only 375 examples produced globally.

Deadmau5’s P1 stands out with a dark blue finish, a departure from the model’s more common hues. While the exact specification details remain private, it is likely the car features some personal touches, possibly including the DJ’s signature mouse logo inside the cabin. The price for a standard P1 started at $1.35 million, but reports suggest Deadmau5’s example cost closer to $2 million, reflecting both customisation and the rarity of the car.

McLaren P1: Technical details

The McLaren P1 was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and assembled at the company’s Woking facility. It features a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 903hp and 978Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The P1’s performance places it alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder in the so-called hypercar ‘holy trinity’. The McLaren’s hybrid system enables both electric-only running and full-power acceleration, with a focus on track capability as well as road use. Each P1 was built to order, with buyers able to select bespoke finishes and interior details.

Celebrity hypercar trend

Deadmau5 is not the first high-profile owner of a P1. Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton also took delivery of a custom P1, finished in baby blue, for his Monaco collection. The exclusivity and performance of the P1 have made it a popular choice among celebrities and collectors.See also:Lewis Hamilton Adds Baby Blue McLaren P1 to Monaco Garage
