First BMW M5 F11 Touring renderings preview super estate

Digital renderings imagine the BMW M5 as an F11 Touring, using the F10 saloon’s 560hp V8 and targeting rivals like the Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes E63 AMG wagon.

Unofficial renderings have surfaced online showing how a BMW M5 Touring could look if built on the F11 5 Series estate platform. Created by Bimmerpost.com, the images apply the F10 M5’s styling and mechanical cues to the more practical body, giving enthusiasts a glimpse of a super estate that BMW itself has not yet confirmed.

The renderings draw directly from the new F10 M5 saloon, which features a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 560hp and 502lb ft. Power is delivered through a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with paddle shifters. In the saloon, this setup enables 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 190mph with the optional M Driver’s Package. The F11 Touring would be expected to offer similar performance, although the additional weight of the estate body might slightly affect acceleration.

BMW’s last M5 Touring, the E61, ended production in 2010. While the F11 estate has been available in regular 5 Series forms, BMW has so far limited the latest M5 to the saloon. The new renderings suggest what an F11 M5 Touring could look like, complete with widened arches, aggressive front and rear bumpers, and quad exhausts. The digital images position the car as a direct rival to the Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes E63 AMG estate, both of which have maintained a strong following among buyers seeking high-performance family cars.

No official plans for F11 M5 Touring

At the time these renderings appeared, BMW had not announced any intention to produce an M5 Touring based on the F11. The company’s focus remained on the F10 M5 saloon, which had just launched. There had been speculation in enthusiast circles about a possible return of the M5 estate, but no confirmation from Munich. The renderings therefore remain an independent visualisation rather than a preview of an imminent production model.

For buyers interested in high-performance estates, both the Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes E63 AMG wagon remained available in 2012, with BMW’s official M5 offering restricted to the saloon. The digital renderings highlight the continued demand for a BMW M5 Touring, even if the company itself had not yet responded with a production car.
