Hamann reveals bespoke upgrade for McLaren MP4-12C

Hamann has introduced a comprehensive upgrade package for the McLaren MP4-12C, targeting owners seeking more aggressive styling and exclusivity. The German tuning firm’s latest project, revealed in early 2013, centres on a series of aerodynamic and cosmetic enhancements rather than mechanical changes.

The most striking feature is the baby blue finish applied to the MP4-12C’s bodywork, which is paired with a redesigned front splitter, extended side skirts and a larger rear wing. Hamann has also fitted a prominent roof air duct and wheel arch ventilation, all aimed at giving the British supercar a more purposeful appearance. At the rear, a new diffuser and a triple-exit exhaust system replace the standard setup, while the car sits on 21-inch alloys exclusive to the package.

Inside, Hamann offers buyers a choice of Alcantara or leather upholstery, with optional carbon fibre or wood trim elements. The company’s approach is to provide a more individualised cabin, though the core structure and layout of the MP4-12C remain unchanged. The upgrade focuses on tactile materials and visual impact rather than reengineering the controls or infotainment.

No engine upgrade confirmed

Hamann’s announcement does not mention any changes to the MP4-12C’s 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8. In its standard form, the engine produces 616hp (following McLaren’s own 2012 update) and 443lb ft of torque, delivering 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 205mph. While other tuners have offered power increases for the MP4-12C, Hamann’s package at launch appears to be limited to styling and interior modifications.
