Chevrolet Confirms Euro-Spec 2015 Corvette Stingray with Z51 Package
European buyers get the 2015 Corvette Stingray exclusively with the Z51 performance pack, a 6.2-litre V8 and a starting price of €74,500 in Germany.
Chevrolet has announced details and pricing for the European version of the 2015 Corvette Stingray, confirming that all cars bound for the continent will come fitted with the Z51 performance package as standard. The coupe starts at €74,500 in Germany, placing it well above the US base price, but the European specification brings a higher level of equipment and performance focus.
Z51 Performance Package as Standard
European buyers will not have to pay extra for the Z51 pack, which brings a set of mechanical upgrades aimed at sharper handling and improved track capability. The Z51 specification includes an electronic limited-slip differential, dry sump oiling system, upgraded brakes, specific shocks and springs, unique stabiliser bars, and dedicated cooling for both the differential and transmission. Larger wheels and tyres, along with a performance-oriented final drive ratio, are also part of the package.
This approach sets the Euro-spec Stingray apart from the US-market base car, which comes without the Z51 package unless optioned separately. The result is a higher entry price but a more focused specification for European conditions and expectations.
Engine, Performance and Emissions
Power comes from Chevrolet’s 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 460hp (338kW) and 630Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a seven-speed manual gearbox, sending power to the rear wheels. Chevrolet quotes a 0-100km/h time of 4.2 seconds for the coupe, with a top speed of 290km/h. The convertible version is marginally slower, reaching 282km/h.
These figures reflect the performance focus of the car and the inclusion of the Z51 package, which adds weight and mechanical grip. The emissions and fuel consumption figures are unlikely to appeal to buyers facing high taxation on large-capacity engines, but Chevrolet is pitching the Stingray as a rival to established European sports cars rather than a mainstream alternative.
European Pricing and Market Position
At €74,500 in Germany, the European Corvette Stingray is priced well above its American equivalent, which starts at $54,995 before destination charges. The higher price reflects both import costs and the standard fitment of the Z51 pack. For comparison, the higher-performance Corvette Z06 is also offered in Europe, starting from €99,500.
