Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition set for Detroit debut
Ram will unveil the Rebel Black Edition at the 2017 North American International Auto Show, adding new interior and exterior details to its off-road pickup.
Ram is preparing to launch the 1500 Rebel Black Edition at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, offering a revised look and new interior features for its off-road pickup. The special edition adds black trim and accessories to the Rebel’s established package, with first deliveries expected at US dealers in March 2017.
Black styling and interior upgrades
The Rebel Black Edition retains the full colour palette of the standard Ram 1500 Rebel but adds gloss black wheels and a matching brush guard. Inside, the cabin features black heated seats with Rebel embroidery as standard, with the option to upgrade to Katzkin black leather. Light Slate Grey stitching appears on the seats, instrument panel, centre console lid and door panels, contrasting with the otherwise dark theme. Black anodised trim accents the doors, console, instrument panel and gauge cluster rings.
Ram fits deep rubber floor mats to help protect the interior from mud and snow, acknowledging the Rebel’s off-road focus. The model continues with 33-inch tyres, Bilstein shocks and skid plates as standard, maintaining the mechanical specification of the regular Rebel.
Engine options and pricing
Buyers can choose between a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 producing 395bhp and 410lb ft of torque, or a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 with 305bhp and 269lb ft. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Pricing for the Rebel Black Edition starts at $46,910 in the US, which includes a $1,320 destination charge.
Position among special editions
The Rebel Black Edition follows a trend for special series pickups with distinctive styling, echoing similar approaches from other brands and within the FCA group. For readers interested in other Black Edition models, see the Porsche Cayman S Black Editionand Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Black Series.
