Range Rover Sport SVR confirmed for Australia with 550hp V8
Land Rover's flagship performance SUV lands in Australia in May, bringing a 550hp supercharged V8 and a price tag of AUD 218,500.
Land Rover will introduce the Range Rover Sport SVR to the Australian market in May, positioning its most powerful production SUV as a direct rival to the BMW X6 M, Mercedes ML63 AMG and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Australian buyers can now place orders, with the SVR priced at AUD 218,500.
The SVR sits at the top of the Range Rover Sport line-up, developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations. Its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 produces 550hp (410kW) and 680Nm, making it the most potent Range Rover Sport to date. Land Rover claims 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 261km/h. The SVR lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 8 minutes 14 seconds, underlining its performance credentials.
Technical and visual upgrades
Beyond its engine, the SVR features recalibrated electric power steering, an uprated differential, torque vectoring and Active Roll Control. These changes aim to deliver sharper handling and improved body control compared with standard Range Rover Sport models.
Visually, the SVR is distinguished by a new front grille, larger air intakes, flared arches and a gloss black rear diffuser. Quad tailpipes, a pronounced rear spoiler and muscular side skirts complete the exterior changes. Standard wheels are 21-inch alloys, with 22-inch options available for those seeking an even more aggressive look.
Australian market positioning
With its price and performance, the SVR targets buyers considering high-performance SUVs from German brands. The model’s arrival is expected to reinforce Land Rover’s credentials among enthusiasts seeking both luxury and speed in an SUV. Orders are open now ahead of first deliveries in May.
