BMW M2 Coupe to be revealed online today
BMW will unveil the M2 Coupe online this evening, previewing the new compact M car as a successor to the 1M Coupe and a nod to the E30 M3.
BMW will reveal its new M2 Coupe online later today, presenting the long-awaited compact performance model as the successor to the 1M Coupe and a modern echo of the original E30 M3. The unveiling is scheduled for 6pm Eastern time (11pm UK), with full details and images expected to follow immediately after the event.
The M2 Coupe sits above the M235i in BMW’s 2 Series range, adopting a more aggressive body kit, wider tracks and M-specific aerodynamic features. BMW has reworked the suspension, brakes and steering for sharper handling, while the car’s stance and detailing clearly mark it out from standard 2 Series models.
Inside, the M2 Coupe will feature sports seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, and M branding throughout. The cabin is expected to include updated trim and additional safety systems compared to the standard model.
Engine and performance details
BMW is equipping the M2 Coupe with a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine, delivering more power than the M235i. While the exact output will be confirmed at launch, previous indications suggest around 370hp. Drive goes to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Top speed is expected to be electronically limited to 250km/h (155mph).
Position in the M range
The M2 Coupe is positioned as the entry point to BMW’s high-performance M division, following the approach set by the limited-run 1M Coupe. Its role is to offer a more focused, compact alternative to the larger M4 Coupe, with an emphasis on driver involvement and agility.
