Volkswagen has pulled the wraps off the new generation of the Golf GTI in its final production version during the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
After the new generation of the popular five-door hatchback has been presented a few weeks ago, the question asked by the company’s fans was what the new GTI will look like. Well the carmaker has answered this question today at the Paris Motor Show where the final production version of the hot hatch has been officially presented to the public.
The all-new Volkswagen Golf GTI will get two power levels in stage one and stage two, both of them being powered by the 2.0 liter direct injected turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with Stage 1 producing 217 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, allowing the model to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.6 seconds and providing it with a top speed of 152 mph, while in Stage 2 the unit will develop 226 HP and it will allow the hot hatch to spring from 0 to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 155 mph. Both versions of the new Golf GTI will get stop/start system and six-speed dual clutch transmission as standard. Additional details on the new Golf GTI will be announced close to its launch in early 2013.
