Waberer’s International Orders 200 Volvo FH Trucks for Fleet Expansion
Hungarian logistics firm Waberer’s International will add 200 Volvo FH trucks to its fleet from May 2012, continuing a long-standing partnership with Volvo Hungaria.
Volvo Hungaria has secured an order to supply 200 Volvo FH trucks to Waberer’s International, Hungary’s largest transport and logistics company. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2012 and will be completed over a four-month period, according to the companies’ statements.
The new trucks will join Waberer’s International’s extensive fleet, which numbers around 2,500 vehicles. Volvo has been a major supplier to Waberer’s for over 15 years, and about half the fleet already carries the Swedish marque’s badge. The current agreement reinforces Volvo’s position as Waberer’s primary truck supplier and reflects the operator’s ongoing strategy to modernise and standardise its long-haul assets.
Volvo FH trucks specified for efficiency and emissions
The FH units supplied under this contract are equipped with Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicle (EEV) engines, meeting stricter European emissions targets set for heavy goods vehicles. EEV certification sits above the Euro V standard, reducing particulate and NOx emissions further than conventional engines of the time. This aligns with Waberer’s stated aim to lower the environmental impact of its operations across Europe.
Alongside emissions, Waberer’s cited Volvo’s reputation for reliability, safety and aftersales support as key reasons for the continued partnership. The company’s pan-European logistics network places a premium on uptime, and the FH’s established track record in long-haul operations has been a decisive factor in repeated orders.
Fleet growth and operational impact
The addition of 200 new trucks will allow Waberer’s to refresh part of its fleet, replacing older units and supporting growth in its cross-border freight business. For Volvo Hungaria, the deal consolidates its position as the leading supplier to one of Central Europe’s largest road transport operators. The ongoing cooperation between the two companies has been credited with supporting Waberer’s expansion and Volvo’s market share in Hungary and neighbouring markets.
The phased delivery schedule will see new vehicles entering service throughout summer 2012, minimising disruption and ensuring a smooth integration into Waberer’s logistics operations. The order comes at a time when operators across Europe are under pressure to improve efficiency and reduce emissions, making the choice of EEV-compliant trucks a practical move for both regulatory and commercial reasons.
