Chevrolet updates 2011 Corvette Z06 with Z07 package and carbon ceramic brakes
Chevrolet’s 2011 Corvette Z06 receives a new Z07 performance package, carbon ceramic brakes, upgraded tyres and revised exhaust, aiming to sharpen the track-focused model for keen drivers.
Chevrolet has introduced a series of enhancements for the 2011 Corvette Z06, focusing on performance and appearance upgrades for its track-oriented coupé. The changes, revealed at the Corvette Museum’s C5/C6 Bash, target buyers seeking sharper dynamics and a more aggressive look.
The headline addition is the Z07 performance package, which brings several chassis and braking upgrades to the Z06. Most notably, the package includes Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, a technology previously reserved for the range-topping ZR1. These brakes offer reduced unsprung weight and improved fade resistance, especially under repeated hard use on track.

Alongside the carbon ceramic brakes, the Z07 package equips the Z06 with new Goodyear tyres designed to deliver higher levels of grip. The tyre specification aims to match the car’s output and chassis tuning, enhancing cornering performance and stability at speed. The package also includes chassis tweaks to complement the uprated tyres and brakes.
Chevrolet has also revised the Z06’s dual-mode exhaust system for 2011. The updated tune is intended to deliver a more aggressive sound profile, responding to feedback from drivers who wanted a more visceral experience at higher revs. The exhaust remains valved, opening under load to reduce back pressure and increase volume.
CFZ Carbon Fibre appearance package
Buyers can now specify the CFZ Carbon Fibre appearance package. This option adds visible carbon fibre elements to the body, including the front splitter, side skirts and rear spoiler. While primarily a visual upgrade, the lightweight panels also contribute to a small reduction in mass and a more purposeful stance.
The 2011 Z06 otherwise retains its core mechanical package. Power comes from the 7.0-litre LS7 V8, producing 505bhp and driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. The aluminium chassis and composite body panels remain unchanged, continuing the Z06’s focus on low weight and high performance.
Position in the Corvette range
With these enhancements, the Z06 sits between the standard Corvette and the supercharged ZR1. The new options allow buyers to tailor the car more closely to track use, with braking and grip now approaching the levels of the range flagship. The appearance package also gives owners a way to visually distinguish their cars without moving to the more expensive ZR1.
Chevrolet has not announced changes to the Z06’s pricing structure in connection with the new packages. Availability is expected to coincide with the 2011 model year production schedule.
