ABT RS6-R Debuts at Geneva with 730hp and Carbon Upgrades
ABT Sportsline has revealed the RS6-R at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, delivering 730hp and a carbon fibre aero package for the Audi RS6 Avant.
ABT Sportsline has unveiled the RS6-R at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, taking the already potent Audi RS6 Avant and pushing its performance and presence further. The German tuning house announced the world premiere of the RS6-R, which delivers 730hp and a suite of carbon fibre enhancements.
The RS6-R starts with the standard RS6 Avant’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which in factory form produces 560hp. ABT’s engineers have extracted an additional 170hp, bringing total output to 730hp. The company has not detailed the full list of engine modifications but the power increase places the RS6-R among the most powerful estates available in 2014.
Torque figures have not been officially stated, but the RS6 Avant’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system remains, ensuring that the RS6-R’s extra power can be deployed effectively. ABT has not published acceleration or top speed figures, though the standard RS6 Avant already achieves 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds. The RS6-R is expected to improve on that benchmark.
Carbon fibre aero and aggressive styling
ABT’s visual upgrades are extensive. The RS6-R features a carbon fibre front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and mirror caps. These elements are designed to reduce weight and sharpen the car’s appearance. The show car at Geneva appeared with 22-inch alloy wheels and a prominent rear wing, both unique to the ABT conversion.
Inside, the RS6-R carries bespoke badging and trim. ABT has not released full interior specifications, but carbon accents and unique logos are visible throughout the cabin. The tuner has also fitted a sports exhaust system to complement the engine upgrades and deliver a more assertive soundtrack.
Production and Geneva context
ABT has confirmed the RS6-R will be built in limited numbers, though the exact production run has not been disclosed. The car joins a field of high-performance estates and tuned models at Geneva, including rival offerings from MTM and other German specialists. For context, MTM also presented a 730hp RS6 at the show, highlighting the fierce competition among Audi tuners.
The RS6-R’s debut follows a series of Audi-based projects from ABT, including the AS6-R Avant and tuned versions of the SQ5 and Q7. The RS6-R’s combination of power, carbon fibre aero and exclusivity targets buyers seeking supercar performance in a practical estate format.
