Jeep Wrangler JK to receive six special editions before model change
Jeep will introduce six special editions of the Wrangler JK, with the first two arriving next month and four more following through 2017 as the current model nears replacement.
Jeep is preparing to send off the Wrangler JK with a run of six special editions, starting with the Sport Freedom and Sahara Winter models arriving at dealers from next month. These limited-run versions will be available in the United States, with the remaining four editions scheduled to roll out through 2017 as the current generation nears the end of production.
Sport Freedom and Sahara Winter: first arrivals
The Sport Freedom edition features a patriotic theme, with a star decal on the bonnet and rear fender, exterior badging, and an American flag on the left front wing. It comes with 18-inch Sahara wheels finished in granite crystal, taillight guards, a black fuel filler cap, and a heavy-duty cast differential cover. Pricing is set at $30,690 for the two-door and $34,590 for the four-door Unlimited, including shipping. This edition will be available until May 2017.
The Sahara Winter edition adds LED headlights and fog lamps, distinctive decals and badges, and the option of a contrasting hard top. Remote start is included on automatic models, along with off-road rock rails. The Sahara Winter is priced at $37,440 for the standard Wrangler and $41,240 for the Unlimited, with availability running until February 2017.
Four more editions to follow
Following these, Jeep will release four further special editions through 2017: the Sport Big Bear (February to July), Sahara Chief (March to June), Sahara Smoky Mountain (March to July), and Rubicon Recon (February to September), which will replace the outgoing Rubicon Hard Rock. Each will feature its own combination of styling and equipment changes, although full details have not yet been released.

The special editions are intended to maintain interest in the current Wrangler JK ahead of its successor’s arrival.
